BBQ Chicken Skillet Pizza

For the Pizza Dough: – 1 lb (450g) store-bought pizza dough or homemade dough – Olive oil, for brushing

For the BBQ Chicken Topping: – 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced – 1/2 cup barbecue sauce – 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced – 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese – 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Fresh Fruit: Add fresh or frozen fruit to your milkshake for natural sweetness and flavor. Popular options include bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mangoes, peaches, or pineapple.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).  Prepare Dough: If using store-bought pizza dough, allow it to come to room temperature. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle slightly larger than your skillet.

Prep Skillet: Lightly brush the bottom and sides of a cast-iron skillet with olive oil.  Transfer Dough: Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough to the skillet, pressing it gently to fit the bottom and up the sides of the skillet.

Precook Dough (Optional): If desired, you can pre-cook the dough in the skillet for a few minutes on the stovetop over medium heat. This will help ensure a crispier crust.

Prepare Toppings: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken breast and barbecue sauce, tossing until the chicken is evenly coated.

Assemble Pizza: Spread the barbecue chicken mixture evenly over the pizza dough in the skillet. Sprinkle the sliced red onion over the top, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Finish: Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pizza cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro over the top for added flavor and freshness, if desired.
